We’ve seen, time and time again, the Tiago exceed expectations in terms of build quality that essentially earns the title “Mr” Tiago.
This mishap between Tata Tiago and Maruti Dzire makes for some interesting observations. Tiago is a 4-star safety rated product and has impressed everyone with its strong performance in the unfortunate incidents recorded in the past. On the other hand, Dzire is the most popular sedan in the country, but its body strength has often been questioned by owners. Nevertheless, this collision between the two brings out some interesting observations.

The video has been posted by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel. He posts such videos regularly in an effort to raise awareness among Indian car buyers about the importance of investing in cars with high safety ratings. This incident is reported from Jharkhand. Here, one of the Tiago drivers tried to overtake another vehicle on a dual carriageway. He miscalculated the maneuver and ended up hitting a Maruti Dzire coming in the opposite direction. The two cars collided almost head-on. Interestingly, despite the Tiago being marked as a safer car by NCAP, the two models have suffered a similar level of damage.

The impact on the two vehicles is quite severe. The front end of the Tiago has a broken bumper, headlights, bonnet, grill, wing mirrors etc. However, the impact did not enter the cabin as the side pillars are intact. The airbags deployed and saved the passengers from any injuries. On the other hand, the Dzire was hit from the right front. As a result, the hood, bumper, grill and headlights have sustained extensive damage. However, due to the angle of impact, the passengers were safe as the airbags deployed and the impact was not head-on.

The Tiago has time and again proven to be a safe car, which is even reflected in its 4-star safety rating by NCAP. But in this case, Dzire has performed equally well. This clearly shows that the NCAP score is definitely not the final word when it comes to vehicle crash performance. Finally, we would like to warn our readers against over-speeding. It continues to be the most prominent cause of such unwanted situations on the road. Even here, had the drivers driven slowly, they would have been able to avoid the accident. We therefore encourage our readers to always follow the traffic rules and avoid driving too fast at all costs.
